How ranking works
Results are ordered by how well a business fits your event. Businesses can’t pay to move up the organic results, and anything paid is labelled.
1. Only businesses that can do your event
First we remove anyone who can’t: outside their service area, closed or fully booked on your date, the wrong guest numbers, or missing a dietary need or licence you asked for. Severe allergies are only matched with kitchens that have confirmed they can handle them.
2. A transparent fit score
Everyone left gets a score from four things:
- Quality (35%): rating from verified bookings only, smoothed so a handful of reviews can’t dominate.
- Distance (30%): closer businesses travel less and are usually cheaper to get to you.
- Reliability (25%): the business’s on-time arrival record.
- Availability: businesses free on your date rank above those who aren’t.
New businesses get a small, temporary boost so they can earn their first reviews. Commission rates and spend on BissCAT play no part.
3. Sponsored and featured placements
A business can pay for one clearly labelled Sponsored slot in search, or a Featured label on a bid. They only appear if the business already passes every filter in step 1 and meets a minimum fit score, and they never change the order of everything else.
4. You choose the order
Best match is the default. You can sort by price, rating or distance at any time, and every result shows why it matched. Try it on search.
Deals and prices
Prices include GST and every fee before you pay. A “was” price only appears if the business charged it for at least 30 days before the deal started, and deals can run for at most 90 days.
